Overview

The Matrix service helps young people in South Tyneside with substance-related needs through assessments and planned interventions.

It is designed to meet the different needs of children, offering both outreach and centre-based appointments.

Support available

The support offered by the service includes:

  • Advice and information for young people and their families
  • Drug and alcohol awareness
  • Support into other health services such as mental / physical health and social care
  • Psychosocial support for social and educational needs
  • Exploring triggers for use and self-help strategies
  • Harm reduction and relapse prevention
  • Safeguarding and risk management
  • Access to sexual health services and condoms

The team works with other services and partners to address the overall needs of young people and their families.
